"Call of the Wild" series - Howling Wolf - 2014 - .99999
Issued by the Royal Canadian Mint in 2014 in a series called "Call of the Wild" issued annually from 2014 to 2016, the "Howling Wolf" gold investment coin is dedicated to the wolf of the Canadian wilderness.
Weighing 1/10th ounce - 3.11 grams, this investment coin is exclusively minted in 99.999% purest 24 karat gold (the world's purest gold investment coin). The coin is encased in a protective plastic card, which also serves as a certificate of authenticity.
The gold investment coin bears a portrait of a howling wolf on its reverse. On the background there are stripes symbolizing the sound of a wolf howling. The motif is surrounded by the inscriptions "CANADA", "FINE GOLD", fineness "99999", "1/10 OZ OR PUR". The artist's initials "PL" are placed under the wolf.
The obverse of the coin traditionally features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt and the inscriptions "ELIZABETH II", "20 DOLLARS" and the year of issue. The coin has the status of Canadian legal tender.
