Innovation Nation - Israel's 71st Independence Day
An exclusive gold coin issued by the Bank of Israel in 2019 and minted in Proof quality 22K gold to commemorate the 71st anniversary of Independence Day highlights the innovative sector of the nation of Israel.
The obverse of the coin features six symbols representing Israel's development in different areas of innovation. In a circle, with the Star of David in the center, the symbols are arranged in a clockwise direction: rocket - Israel's space program and research; USB memory stick - computer technology; solar panel - use of solar energy; water drop - use of water resources and irrigation; three leaves - new agricultural methods; and position indicator - navigation technology. The rim of the coin consists of the inscription "INNOVATION NATION" and its transcription in Hebrew and Arabic.
The reverse of the coin bears the national emblem of Israel, the English inscriptions "ISRAEL", "INDEPENDENCE DAY 2019", the denomination "10 NEW SHEKELS" and their transcriptions in Hebrew and partly in Arabic. The coin's background consists of seven stars, representing seven decades of the State of Israel, and a horizon symbolizing the nation's innovative achievements that reach far beyond it.
