Gold Coin - Ten Centuries of Architecture - Late Gothic
On the obverse side, in the upper part of the coin field, there is a loose composition of stylized heraldic animals made of provincial emblems, the Czech lion, Moravian and Silesian eagles. The Czech lion is in the middle between the two eagles. The name of the state 'CZECH REPUBLIC' is in the description at the bottom edge of the coin. Below the composition of the heraldic animals, the denomination of the coin '2000 CZK' appears in a line. At the upper edge of the coin is the description 'TEN CENTURIES OF ARCHITECTURE', the individual words of which are separated by a small ornamental decoration.
The central motif of the reverse side is a depiction of a stone fountain in Kutná Hora in a stylised perspective view. At the edges of the coin is the description 'POZDNÍ GOTIKA KUTNÁ HORA KAMENNÁ KAŠNA', whose individual words are separated by a small ornamental decoration, similar to the description on the obverse side. The combined initials of the author of the design, Josef Oplištil, are in the lower left part of the coin.
Kutná Hora - Stone Fountain
Until the 19th century, most of Kutná Hora's fountains located in the town's public spaces were wooden, and from time to time they were repaired or replaced, often changing their location. The Stone Fountain built in 1493-1495, which probably also functioned as a water reservoir, had a more privileged position.
According to old descriptions, it had attic railings and a high hexagonal roof. During the reconstruction in 1887-1890 according to Ludvík Labler's plans, although this original roof was not reconstructed, most of the destroyed stonework was replaced with copies.
