Tribute to Queen Elizabeth II.
Since 1952, Elizabeth II has been the formal head of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the countries of the Commonwealth, a community of nations made up of both separate states and other independent territories and possessions. These countries are found scattered around the world. They range from large nations inhabiting vast territories to very small ethnic groups living on isolated islands in the middle of the ocean. An estimated 2.4 billion people are involved, equivalent to almost a third of the population on Earth. For 70 years of her reign, the Queen has provided stability and security for her citizens, embodying moral values and respect for tradition.
The news of her death was heeded by virtually everyone, regardless of nationality. The world's mints of the countries for which Elizabeth II was the supreme authority, and whose image was minted on coins for almost 70 years, also used the only possible way to honour her memory. Extraordinary commemorative issues dedicated to the legacy of Elizabeth II were created.
