The coins depict the following planets: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. The gold-plated coin depicts the Sun with a human face, the planets orbiting it and the inscription "SOL".
The obverse of all coins depicts the solar system with the inscriptions "SYSTEMA SOLARE", with the Greek giant Atlas holding the globe on his neck below. The motif is complemented by the inscriptions "Republic of Belarus" in Russian, face value, purity and year of issue.
The coins are supplied in a luxury blue wooden box along with a certificate of authenticity in a limited edition of only 11,111 pieces for the whole world!
Solar System
The Solar System is the planetary system of stars known as the Sun, in which our home planet Earth is located. The system consists mainly of 8 planets, 5 dwarf planets, over 150 moons of planets (mainly Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune) and other smaller bodies like asteroids, comets, meteoroids etc.
The scientific theory of its formation is that more than 4.6 billion years ago, dust and gas particles began to clump together in the Galaxy - forming a kind of giant dust and gas cloud. Presumably, the transformation of a nearby star into a supernova, accompanied by pressure waves, set the cloud in motion. Particles of dust and gas formed into rings rotating around the dense and massive centre of the cloud. As the cloud collapsed, the dust and gases were pulled by gravity to the centre, where the temperature rose. The core of the cloud became so hot that it began to undergo a thermonuclear reaction.
The Sun was formed and with it came the solar wind, which "blew" the remaining dust and gas towards the emerging planets. Small particles in the protoplanetary cloud began to bump into each other and coalesce into larger and larger chunks of matter. The largest of these became planetesimals - the cornerstones of future planets. Through the action of gravity, ever larger objects and eventually entire planets, many asteroids and even more comets were formed. Farther from the centre, temperatures were lower, giving rise to four gas giants.
