Rwanda - Santa Maria
The investment silver coins of the Republic of Rwanda are minted by the German mint BH Mayer Kunstprageanstalt GmbH in the purest 99.9% silver with a weight of 1 Oz (31.1 g). The motif of the coin is dedicated to Christopher Columbus' flagship "SANTA MARIA". The first issue of the silver investment coin in the "NAUTICAL OUNCE" series celebrates the 525th anniversary of the discovery of America.
The coin features the ship Santa Maria on its reverse with a stylized compass in the background and the inscription "Santa Maria" incorporated into the waves of the sea. At the top are nautical tools: binoculars, compass and sextant. The name of the series "NAUTICAL OUNCE", weight, fineness and year of issue complete the coin's rim.
The obverse of the coin bears the heraldic symbol of Rwanda surrounded by the inscriptions 'BANKI NKURU Y'U RWANDA' and the denomination 'AMAFARANGA 50 MIRONGO ITANU'.
