Detailed description
Australian Kookaburra 10 Oz 2011
The silver investment coin was issued by the Perth Mint in 2011 and minted in the purest 99.99% silver with a weight of 10 Oz (311 g). The Australian Kookaburra motif was introduced by the Australian Mint in 1990 and has changed the appearance of the kingfisher every year since then (with the exception of the anniversary issue in 2015). The original motif for each issue increases the numismatic value of the coins issued.
The reverse of the ten-ounce coin features the Australian Kingfisher (Kookaburra) in the form chosen for 2011 by Elise Martinson. The author of the design depicts the kingfisher sitting on a stump with outstretched wings. The motif includes the mint mark "P" and the author's initials "EM". The description of the coin includes the inscription "AUSTRALIAN KOOKABURRA", the year of issue "2011" and the weight and fineness of the metal.
The obverse of the ten-ounce coin features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley with the initials of the author "IRB", which are supplemented in the description by the inscriptions "ELIZABETH II", "AUSTRALIA" and the face value.
The coins have the status of Australian legal tender and are supplied in a protective plastic capsule.
