Australian Koala 2016
The Australian Koala silver investment coin was issued by the Perth Mint in 2016 in the purest 99.9% silver purity. These coins are one of the most popular investment coins in the world and have been minted since 1990 in various sizes, designs and weights (10Kg, 1Kg, 10 oz, 5 oz, 2 oz, 1 oz, 1/2 oz).
The obverse traditionally depicts a koala, the symbol of Australia. The motif is complemented by the inscription "AUSTRALIAN KOALA" and the mintage and year of issue. The Perth Mint has changed the koala motif annually since 2007. This enhances the numismatic appreciation of the coins issued.
The reverse bears a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, which is accompanied by the inscriptions "ELIZABETH II", "AUSTRALIA" and the denomination. The coin has the status of Australian legal tender and comes in a protective plastic capsule.
