Giants of the Ice Age - Woolly Mammoth
Investment silver coin of the Giants of the Ice Age series, dedicated to the giants of the Ice Age and minted at the German mint Leipziger Edelmetallverarbeitung GmbH. This is the first coin of the series, released for 2019, weighing 1 Oz (31.1 g) in the purest 99.9% silver purity, and bearing the motif of the Woolly Mammoth (Mammuthus primigenius).
The reverse of the coin depicts a Fur Mammoth with giant tusks in an Ice Age landscape. The outer ring of the coin depicts all the animals in the series, the year of issue. The motif is surrounded by the inscriptions "GIANTS OF THE ICE AGE", weight and purity.
The obverse shows the national emblem of the Republic of Ghana with the inscription "REPUBLIC OF GHANA" at the bottom edge and the denomination.
The coin comes in a clear plastic capsule in a mintage of 15,000 for the whole world!
Mammoth Hairyis an extinct species of mammoth in the elephant family. This species lived 800,000 to 600,000 years ago in Siberia, northern Eurasia and North America. At the end of the Pleistocene (known as the Ice Age), the woolly mammoth became extinct over much of its territory. Some smaller isolated populations survived until around 1650 BC.
