Series "Predator" - Grizzly - 2019
Issued by the Royal Canadian Mint in 2019 and struck in absolute purity of the purest 99.99% silver, this silver investment coin is the fourth coin in the "Predator" series. The grizzly bear, a beast that lives in the mountainous regions of North America, was chosen for the coin's theme.
The reverse of the coin depicts a grizzly in a leap, pouncing on its prey. The background of the coin, which consists of radial spokes, incorporates a security mark - a small maple leaf with the year of issue "19" (can be seen under a magnifying glass). The security mark is made using a laser microfabrication technique. The motif is surrounded by the inscriptions "CANADA", "FINE SILVER", purity "9999", "1 OZ OR ARGENT PUR" and the unobtrusive initials of the designer "ED".
The obverse bears the traditional portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt and the inscriptions "ELIZABETH II", "D.G. REGINA", "5 DOLLARS" and the year of issue "2019". The coin has the status of Canadian legal tender.
