Chinese Myths and Legends - Double Dragon
The silver investment coin, issued by the Perth Mint in 2019 in 99.99% purest silver, weighing 1 Oz (31.1 g), is the third coin in a series dedicated to Chinese mythological animals and its Dragon and Dragon motif follows the already released Dragon and Phoenix (2017 issue) and Dragon and Tiger (2018 issue).
The reverse bears the motif of two dragons circling around a burning pearl. The motif is complemented by the mint mark "P".
The dragon has been a Chinese cultural symbol for centuries. This mythical creature has been associated with the highest level of human power and has acquired many other meanings over time. The two dragons are in the position of JIN and JANG and together they represent a balanced whole.
The obverse depicts a traditional portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Jody Clark with the initials "JC" and the inscriptions "ELIZABETH II", "AUSTRALIA", the year of issue "2019" and details of weight, purity and face value. The coin has the status of Australian legal tender under the Monetary Act 1965.
The coin comes in a protective plastic capsule and is limited to a mintage of just 50,000 worldwide!
