Egyptian Ankh 1 Oz
An exclusive silver coloured coin issued by the State of Cameroon in 2020 weighing one troy ounce (31.1 g) in purity of the purest 99.9% silver with a Proof Antique Standard finish is dedicated to the traditional Ancient Egyptian symbol of the "Cross of the Nile", the Ankh.
The motif on the reverse side of the coin is based on the relief decoration found in the tomb of Queen Nefertiti. It represents the patron goddess of life, Eset (Isis), imparting eternal life to the queen in the form of Anch, whose meaning as a hieroglyph corresponds to the words life and immortality. The Egyptian cross of Anch is gilded and coloured and bears a small representation of a scarab as a symbol of reincarnation and the Vedjat (Eye of Horus) as a symbol of protection and power.
The motif on the obverse of the coin draws on a surviving relief in the Temple of Aton at El Amarna. It depicts Pharaoh Akhenaten worshipping the sole god Aten in the form of a sun disc. Part of the background is a stele bearing a record of hieroglyphic writing. The denomination '1000 FRANCS CFA', the year of issue '2020' and the name of the issuer 'REPUBLIQUE DU CAMEROUN' are shown in the direction of the sun's rays. The purity and mint mark are placed at the edge of the coin.
The coin is supplied in a presentation frame and inserted on a cardboard cover, which also serves as a certificate of authenticity. The mintage is limited to 999 pieces for the whole world!
