Gold-plated Wiener Philharmoniker 2019
Released in 2019 and minted in the purest 99.9% silver, this exclusive 1 Oz gold-plated silver coin is dedicated to the Austrian gold and silver investment coin, the Wiener Philharmoniker. The main motif of the reverse side is partially gilded with 24 carat gold.
Thomas Pesendorfer, chief engraver of the Austrian Mint, designed the obverse and reverse for the new gold investment coins of the Wiener Philharmoniker in 1989. The following year they became the best-selling investment coins in Europe and the second best-selling in the world. The same motif was followed by silver investment coins in 2008 and platinum in 2016.
The coin bears on its reverse a selection of nine musical instruments of the symphony orchestra - four violins, cello, bassoon, harp and horn. The description at the top of the coin reads "WIENER PHILHARMONIKER" and below it the metal name "SILVER".
The obverse shows the Great Organ in the Golden Hall of the Musikverein, the seat of the Vienna Philharmonic, and the inscriptions "REPUBLIK ÖSTERREICH", "1 UNZE FEINSILBER", the denomination and the year of issue.
The coin comes in a protective plastic capsule.
