Detailed description
Official mintage 2013 - Portraits of Queen Elizabeth II.
This exclusive set of 4 silver coins, issued by the Royal British Mint in 2013 in top quality proof from the purest silver to mark the 60th anniversary, is dedicated to the famous (and world's most common) portraits on coins of Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain.
In 1953, the Royal Mint struck the first coins featuring a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Sixty years later, the Royal Mint commemorates this unique event: for the first time ever, all four of the Queen's portraits are struck together in this set. This issue is surely one of the most important numismatic events of the past six decades!
Each coin features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II on the reverse by Mary Gillick (since 1953), Arnold Machin RA (since 1964), Raphael Maklouf (since 1985) and Ian Rank-Broadley FRBS (since 1998). The following inscriptions are "ELIZABETH II DEI GRATIA REGINA F.D." and the denomination 'FIVE POUNDS'. The obverse of the coins depicts the UK national emblem by James Butler "JB" and the year of issue "2013".
The coins come in a deluxe gift box along with a detailed illustrated booklet and certificate of authenticity in a limited edition of only 4,800 pieces for the entire world!
