Silver Coin with Crystal - Scarab
A unique silver coin issued by the State of Niue for 2022 and precision minted by the Polish Mint from the purest 99.9% silver weighing 2 Oz represents the scarab - the ancient Egyptian symbol of rebirth.
The reverse of the coin depicts a blue coloured scarab whose legs, head and talons are covered in gold. A bright purple crystal is set in the centre of the beetle's shell, which is fixed with a decorative motif resembling leaves. The colour application is created by digital printing technique.
In ancient Egypt, the scarab was a sacred symbol of rebirth and eternity. This precious beetle was considered the creator of the sun itself, which is why it has such immense power. As a symbol, the scarab beetle has always accompanied the dead on their journey, and the Egyptians placed it directly on the heart of mummies as an amulet. Scarab statuettes were made of various precious metals and stones, such as gold, jade or turquoise. In everyday life, the amulet brought the Egyptians good luck, wealth and protection from evil powers.
The obverse depicts a traditional portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley along with the inscriptions "ELIZABETH II", "NIUE ISLAND", purity, denomination, year of issue in the artist's initials and mint mark.
The coin comes in a presentation frame with a certificate of authenticity in a limited edition of only 500 pieces for the whole world!
