Detailed description

Silver convex coin

RAZITKO_POSTOVNE_ZDARMA_NENI

400th Anniversary of the Mayflower

A unique convex shaped coloured silver coin issued by the Solomon Islands State for 2020, weighing 50g in the finest 99.9% pure silver and Proof quality, to mark the 400th anniversary of the Mayflower's voyage to the New World.

The convex reverse of the coin features a compass with the cardinal points and the destination of the voyage "THE NEW WORLD". The left side of the coin features a color image of the famous Mayflower sailing ship and the right side features a group of settlers on Plymouth Rock. The flat center of the coin, in a plaque design, contains a small windrose motif and a commemoration of the event "400th ANNIVERSARY" - "The Mayflower" - "1620-2020".
The Mayflower made history by transporting settlers from Plymouth, England to the New World in the autumn of 1620. On board she carried 102 English Puritan separatists who sought religious freedom and a place to establish their own cultural community in the new land. The colonists, known as the Pilgrim Fathers, established the second English settlement and the first permanent settlement by Europeans in what is now the United States. Thanks to the support of the native Wampanoag people, they survived their first winter in Cape Cod Bay. In thanksgiving to God, they celebrated the first Thanksgiving the following year, which has become a traditional North American holiday.
Plymouth Rock is the symbolic landing site of the Mayflower settlers. The boulder called "Big Rock" was moved to Pilgrim Hall Museum and became a popular tourist attraction in New England. It is a lasting reminder of the early settlers, the founders of Plymouth, Massachusetts.

The obverse depicts a map showing a sailing ship and the marked route of a voyage between the English port of Plymonth and Cape Cod Bay in the northeastern United States. The map includes an inscription marking the anniversary "PILGRIM QUARCENARY" and a compass rose. The centre is a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II and the inscriptions 'ELIZABETH II', 'SOLOMON ISLANDS', the denomination, year of issue and weight and fineness information.

The coin is supplied in a luxury gift box along with a certificate of authenticity in a limited edition of only 2,020 pieces for the whole world!
