Cloisonné
Cloisonné is an enamel technique for making jewellery, vases and other decorative objects. The name cloisonné is also used for objects decorated in this way. The term comes from French (cloison = partition, partition). The technique consists of welding fine metal strips onto the metal surface of the object. This creates boxes or compartments which are then filled with enamel of different colours. The process is repeated several times until the layer of enamel is level with the level of the metal strips and the surface becomes smooth. At first glance, the resulting object looks as if it were made of porcelain. In Czech, this technique is also known as cellular enamel. It has a great tradition, especially in China.
Sunflowers
The sunflowers (Coccinellidae) are a family of beetles popularly known as ladybirds. In English-speaking countries they are called ladybirds (England, Australia, South Africa), ladybugs (North America) or lady beetles (which is preferred by some scientists). The name of the family is derived from the name of the genus, the ladybird (Coccinella).
Sunflowers are distributed worldwide and over 5,000 species have been described. Sunflower beetles range in size from 1 to 10 mm and are mostly yellow, orange, or bright red in color, with small black spots on their trunks, and black antennae, head, and legs. A large number of species have colouration all black, brown or grey, so that they are indistinguishable to the non-expert or are thought to be beetles of another species.
In general, sunbeetles are considered beneficial insects because they feed on aphids and other insects that cause damage in fields, gardens, greenhouses, and similar places. Some people regard them as bringers of good luck when sundews land on their bodies, while killing them is said to bring bad luck. Some species can also be pests.
