50th Anniversary - First Man in Space
Exclusive silver (square) coin minted by the Finnish Mint and issued by the Cook Islands in 2011. The reverse of the coin depicts a collaged planet Earth around which the Vostok 1 space shuttle is flying. In the left corner is a portrait of the first cosmonaut in space, Yuri Gagarin, with a boy below preparing to throw away his paper rocket. The portrait is accompanied by the inscriptions, "FIRST MAN IN SPACE". The obverse shows the traditional portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, around which the inscriptions "COOK ISLANDS" and "ELIZABETH II", the year of issue and the denomination circle.
The coin comes in a luxury gift case with a certificate of authenticity in a limited edition of only 6000 pieces for the whole world.
