The collector's series of coloured silver coins of the Czech Mint with motifs of representatives of our endangered nature continues in 2017 with a representative of the bird kingdom - the White-crowned Pushtail.
Despite its small-sounding name, the Barn Owl is a large owl with a wingspan of up to 120 centimetres. And that's not all - puffins are excellent hunters and also fiercely defend their nests from any intruder, including humans. They fly at him and physically attack him. This aggressive behaviour has also contributed to the critical endangerment of the species in our territory, where it can be found only in the Beskydy, Šumava and Bohemian Forest regions. In addition to their fearlessness, Pushchits also excel in their fidelity - they form monogamous pairs for life, living up to 25 years.
The design of the reverse side of the coin was created by an experienced medallist MgA. Martin Dašek. Traditionally, he dedicated it to two differently processed views of the endangered animal. The first one is in relief and presents a detail of the owl's head, while the second one is coloured and, thanks to pad printing technology, captures the owl in all its beauty and vivid colours sitting on a branch. The composition is accompanied by a Czech-Latin description of PUŠTÍK BĚLAVÝ - STRIX URALENSIS. The obverse side came from the studio of ac. sculptor. Majka Wichnerová - it bears the natural scenery of a wild forest, which is complemented by the year of issue of the coin 2017, the face value of 1 DOLLAR (NZD) and the portrait of Elizabeth II, i.e. the attributes of the island of Niue, which is the licensor for issuing coins of the Czech Mint.
An integral part of the coin is an illustrated packaging in the form of a book with a cover, which describes the specifics of the life of the Pushto. You can store it in a collector's box, which you can also find in the offer of the Czech Mint.
