25th Anniversary Loonie - Kwaguilth Two Loons - Richard Hunt
This exclusive silver coloured coin minted by the Royal Canadian Mint in 2012 is dedicated to the 25th Anniversary of the Loonie (Canada's gold coloured $1 coin featuring a loon motif, first introduced in 1987), this time in the ancient Kwaguilth art of Canada's indigenous peoples, mastered by celebrated Canadian artist, holder of the Order of Canada and the Order of British Columbia, Richard Hunt.
The reverse of the coin depicts a faithful reproduction of Richard Hunt's original 1995 work, Two Loons Reflecting in the Water. The coloured background depicts a west coast sunset. Everything is enclosed in a diamond circle. The artist's initials "RH" are placed on the right. The obverse shows a traditional portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Susanne Blunt, the inscriptions, "ELIZABETH II", "CANADA", "DOLLAR", "D.G. REGINA" and the year of issue.
The coin comes in a luxurious burgundy leatherette case along with a numbered certificate of authenticity in a limited edition of only 10,000 pieces for the entire world.
