Series 2013 "Meteorites - Cosmic Fireballs" - Murchison
Exclusive silver coin in a coloured meteorite design issued by the Fiji Islands in 2013 in top quality proof from the purest 99.9% silver in a series of five "Meteorites - Cosmic Fireballs" coins.
The reverse of the coin depicts the motif of a flying meteorite called Murchison, which was first sighted on 28 September 1969 at exactly 10:58 local time in the form of a fireball passing through the atmosphere. The meteorite fell near the town of Murchison in Victoria, Australia, leaving behind up to 100 kg of debris. The coloured background shows the planet Earth and the flying hot meteorite. A plastic capsule containing the fragments of the Murchison meteorite is inserted into the coin below the motif. Inscriptions on the coin: 'MURCHISON', 'AUSTRALIA 1969' and 'METEORITES - COSMIC FIREBALLS'. The obverse shows the national emblem of Fiji and the inscriptions "10 DOLLARS.", "FIJI" and the year of issue. Numbered edge.
The coin comes in a deluxe black leatherette box along with an illustrated certificate of authenticity in a limited edition of only 999 pieces for the entire world!
