5 Oz Silver Coin with Pearl - Year of the Rooster 2017
Following the huge success of the silver and gold coins with mother of pearl issued in previous years, the Cook Islands are releasing another unique silver coin with mother of pearl for 2017, dedicated to the Chinese lunar cycle - the Year of the Rooster.
Issued by the Cook Islands State, this five-ounce coin (155.5g) is minted in the purest 99.9% silver purity and features an inner core of genuine mother-of-pearl.
The inner mother-of-pearl circle on the reverse of the coin depicts in red a precise rooster motif of the Chinese lunar calendar against a background of a hilly landscape with typical Chinese architecture. The outer ring bears the inscriptions "YEAR OF THE ROOSTER" and the face value. The obverse depicts a traditional portrait of Britain's Queen Elizabeth II by Ian-Rank Broadley and the inscriptions "ELIZABETH II", "COOK ISLANDS", the year of issue and the artist's initials "IRB".
The coin is encased in its original cut glass presentation plate and comes in a luxury gift case along with a numbered certificate of authenticity in a limited edition of only 888 pieces for the entire world!
