Detailed description
5 Oz Silver Coin with Pearl - Jules Verne - Nautilus
Following the huge success of the Titanic and Year of the Dragon silver pearl coins issued by the Fiji Islands and the Zepelin silver pearl coin issued by the Cook Islands, 2014 sees the release of the fourth silver pearl coin dedicated to Jules Verne (one of the founders of the science fiction genre) and the fictional submarine Nautilus (from the novels Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea and Mysterious Island, whose commander was Captain Nemo).
The five-ounce silver coin (155.5 grams) issued by the Cook Islands is minted in 99.9% pure silver and its inner core is made of real mother-of-pearl.
The inner blue coloured mother-of-pearl circle on the reverse of the coin depicts the famous Nautilus submarine with an octopus at the bottom of the sea. The obverse shows a traditional portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Ian-Rank Broadley and the inscriptions "ELIZABETH II", "COOK ISLANDS" and the year of issue.
The coin comes in a deluxe oval gift box in the shape of a submarine window along with a numbered certificate of authenticity in a limited edition of only 750 pieces for the entire world!
