Detailed description
Academy of Fine Arts in Prague - 200th anniversary of its foundation
The obverse side is filled with a large state emblem of the Czech Republic slightly offset to the right edge of the coin. The name of the state " CZECH REPUBLIC " is placed in an unsealed copy. The denomination '200 CZK' is placed in two lines, with '200' above the extended horizontal line dividing the state emblem and 'CZK' below the line. The artwork of the state emblem creates a harmonious harmony with the reverse side of the coin.
The central image of the reverse side was inspired by František Kupka's painting "Two-coloured Fugue". The name of the school "ACADEMY OF CREATIVE ARTS" is mentioned in the description. The beginning and end of the name is separated by a line with the years "1799 - 1999". The initial of the designer, Lukáš Rudolf, 'R' is placed to the left of the letter 'T' in the word 'ART'. It was minted by the Czech Mint in Jablonec nad Nisou, whose mark is placed on the obverse side of the coin in the middle above the letters "R and E" in the word "REPUBLIKA".
The Academy of Fine Arts in Prague (AVU) is a public university college and is the oldest art school in the Czech lands.
AVU is a university of art. It offers master's and doctoral degree programmes in the field of fine arts and provides higher education in painting, sculpture, drawing and graphics, intermedia, new media, restoration of works of painting and sculpture and architectural design. In this context, it develops artistic, scientific and research, development and other creative activities and participates in lifelong learning. AVU is also an important cultural institution which, in the spirit of tradition, participates in the formation and development of culture and society.
On 10 September 1799, the AVU was founded by a decree issued by Emperor Francis I. Teaching began the following year in 1800. The first director was the German engraver Josef Bergler (1753-1829) and from 1836 it was the Czech professor František Tkadlík, sometimes referred to as Kadlík. In 1896 the AVU was reformed and nationalized, and by decree of 1922 it was recognized as the first state art college. It was also founded by the Society of Patriotic Friends, which wanted to provide quality art education to Czech students from Bohemia, Moravia and Austrian Silesia, who had until then had to commute to Vienna or Munich.
Each silver coin is stored in a protective plastic capsule and placed in a dark blue box along with a certificate of authenticity from the CNB.
