OZNAMENI_CESKA_MINCOVNASpejbl a Hurvínek
Hurvinek: "Daddy, when was I born?"
Spejbl: "On the second of May, Hurvinek."
"Oh, what a coincidence, on my birthday!"
90 years ago, a boy named Hurvínek was introduced to the audience for the first time, and Mr. Spejbl's life changed from the ground up. The confused, perpetually disgruntled grumpy and sworn bachelor was put in charge of a mischievous rascal who rolls his eyes and plays pranks on his caring father-in-law. It should be added that Spejbl goes a bit overboard with his care, but he still deserves his own silver commemorative coin issued on the occasion of his wooden son's round birthday.
Exactly when Mr. Spejbl was born is not known. All we know is that it was in Pilsen at the turn of 1919 and 1920, when he was carved by Karel Nosek according to a design by puppeteer Josef Skupa. The creators gave the puppet a head as bare as a knee, a big nose and even bigger ears, bulging eyes, the necessary tailcoat, clogs and gloves. Initially, Spejbl was a theatrical partner of the popular character Kašpárek, and his thankless role became that of a caricature of a limited bourgeois. However, the two characters were not well suited to each other, and plays with a lone Spejbl were also not the right fit. The necessary revival was brought only by his smaller and technically more perfect copy, which was named Hurvínek and eventually took on the role of his son.
The author of the art design of the silver coin is the talented medallist Irena Hradecká, DiS., who has created a number of fairy tale realisations - besides Hurvínek, her workshop has produced, for example, Křemílek and Vochomůrka or Amálka the Fairy. The reverse of the coin is dedicated to the name and bust of Mr. Spejbl with his typical comically mistaken expression. Smart coins are issued under license from the Pacific island of NIUE ISLAND, and the obverse side belongs to the following attributes of the issuer: the name and portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, the face value of 1 DOLLAR (NZD) and the year of issue 2016.
If you purchased the Hurvinek coin, you also received a collector's album with it. Don't forget that Mr. Spejbl has his place in it too!
