First Edition - Gold Plated 1 Kg Maple Leaf Forever 2013
This exclusive gold-plated silver coin was precision struck by the Royal Canadian Mint in 2013 at a weight of one kilogram weighing 102.1 mm in absolute finest silver 999.9 purity and is the first ever Royal Canadian Mint gold-plated one kilogram coin release. The inspiration for the motif on the maple leaf coins is the Canadian flag and the Canadian one cent issued for circulation since 1937.
The reverse of the coin depicts a beautiful motif of two gold-plated maple leaves (a Douglas maple leaf partially overlaying a sugar maple leaf) on a hand-polished "mirror" background in top proof quality. The motif is accompanied by the inscriptions, "CANADA", "FINE SILVER", "1 kg", "ARGENT PUR", "9999" and the artist's initials "ED" to the right below the leaf. The obverse shows a traditional portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Susanne Blunt. This is followed by the inscriptions 'ELIZABETH II', '250 DOLLARS', 'D.G.REGINA' and the year of issue.
The coin comes in a deluxe maple wood box with a numbered certificate of authenticity in a very limited edition of only 600 pieces for the entire world!
