400th Anniversary of the Romanovs - 1 Kg silver coloured and gilded coin
An exclusive silver coin, coloured and gilded in 24 carat gold, issued by the Cook Islands in 2013, weighing one kilogram and measuring 120mm in diameter (making it one of the largest coins in the world) and in the finest silver purity in a top quality proof, is dedicated to the 400th anniversary of the Romanov dynasty.
On its reverse, the coin depicts a coloured double-headed eagle (the emblem of Tsarist Russia) and 18 gilded tsars who ruled from 1613 until the February Revolution in 1917. The motif is complemented by the inscription, "400 YEARS ROMANOV DYNASTY 1613 - 2013". The obverse depicts a traditional portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Ian - Rank Broadley. This is followed by the inscriptions "ELIZABETH II", "COOK ISLANDS" , "100 DOLLARS" and the year of issue.
The coin is housed in a thick plastic capsule that can be unscrewed and comes in a luxury wooden box along with a certificate of authenticity in a limited edition of only 400 pieces for the whole world! The coin also includes a high-quality magnifying glass and a document (in parchment form) with the history of the Romanov family and an illustrated family tree.
