2010 Winter Olympics - Vancouver - Olympic Maple Leaf
Rare set of three gold partially coloured coins issued by the Royal Canadian Mint in 2010, minted between 2008 and 2010 in the Olympic Maple Leaf series, weighing 1 ounce (31.1 g) in the finest 99.99% pure gold in top proof quality to commemorate the XXI Olympic Winter Games held in Vancouver, Canada in 2010.
The 2008 coin depicts the Olympic logo (Inukshuk with Olympic rings) partially overlaid on a traditional red coloured Canadian maple leaf. For 2009, the Native North American motif of the Thunderbird was chosen, which is surrounded by 11 different small red-coloured maple leaves. A 2010 coin depicting a hockey player and two red coloured maple leaves completes the set. Above the design is the year 2010 with the text "VANCOUVER WHISTLER". The coin motifs are complemented by the inscriptions, "FINE GOLD OR PUR", weight and purity. The obverse of each coin shows the face value (50 dollars), the year of issue, the inscriptions "CANADA" , "ELIZABETH II" and the traditional portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt. For 2009 and 2010, the portrait is accompanied by the Olympic Games logo.
The coins come in a deluxe lacquered maple wood box along with a certificate of authenticity in a very limited edition of only 200 pieces for the entire world!
