Jablonec nad Nisou (German: Gablonz an der Neiße, Polish: Jabłoniec nad Nysą) is a statutory town in the Liberec Region, 9 km southeast of Liberec, in the valley of the Nisa River and its tributaries. In 2011, it had a population of about 45 thousand and an area of 31.38 km2. It is the seat of the Jablonec nad Nisou district and belongs to constituency No. 35 for the Senate elections.

The town is famous for glass and jewellery production. It also offers many sporting and tourist activities in the attractive surroundings of the town, which include the romantic Maloskalsko region and the popular Jizera Mountains. A number of other industries are also represented.

The Czech Mint, a.s. is located in Jablonec nad Nisou. It was founded in 1993 after the dissolution of the Czechoslovak federation, when it won a tender for suppliers of circulation coins for the newly independent Czech Republic. Its establishment continued a long tradition of coinage in Bohemia, Moravia, Silesia and Slovakia. Throughout its existence, it has been the exclusive supplier of circulation and commemorative coins for the needs of the Czech National Bank. It is therefore the only domestic mint authorised to mint coins for the central bank. It has also minted currency for foreign central banks, e.g. for Moldova, Armenia, Venezuela, the United Arab Emirates and Lebanon. In addition, it carries out its own issuance of commemorative medals, replicas of historical coins, tokens and medallions.
