Two Dragons
A 1 Oz (31.1g) gold investment coin of the purest 99.99% gold purity issued by the British Royal Mint for 2018.
The reverse side depicts two dragons in the form of the "Yin and Yang" character. At the bottom of the coin is a Welsh red dragon referring to the 1950s minted by the Royal Mint of Wales. At the top of the coin it is accompanied by a Chinese dragon, a symbol of the Royal Mint's expansion in China. The motif is surrounded by the inscription 'TWO DRAGONS' and details of weight, fineness and issue.
The Welsh dragon is a legendary creature, first used as a symbol of Wales and its origins by King Henry VII in 1485. Tudor at the Battle of Bosworth. The red dragon of Wales is also one of the motifs on the coins of the highly successful Queen's Beasts series minted by the British Royal Mint.
In Chinese mythology, dragons represent power and energy, and their worship has a long tradition in society. The dragon is also one of the 12 signs of the Chinese zodiac.
The obverse shows the traditional portrait of Queen Elizabeth II with the inscription "ELIZABETH II.D.G.REG.F.D." and the denomination "100 POUNDS".
