American Eagle - Liberty
American Eagle gold coins are very popular among collectors and investors, especially in America. They have been minted since 1986 in four fractions: 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz and 1/10 oz of the purest gold. The higher weight of these coins is due to the lower purity of the gold. The rest is made up of copper (5.33%) and silver (3%), which improves the coin's resistance to abrasion. The coins are made exclusively from gold mined in the USA.
Obverse:
Figure of Liberty walking with flowing hair, holding a torch in his right hand and an olive branch in his left, text "LIBERTY", year of issue (in Roman numerals until 1991). By August Saint-Gauden.
Reverse:
