Detailed description
The Perth Mint's 125th Anniversary 2024 1oz
Minted by The Perth Mint, Australia in 2024, this 1 Oz gold investment coin is struck in the purest 99.99% gold purity to mark the 125th anniversary of the Perth Mint.
The reverse of the coin depicts three representatives of Australia's most famous investment coins, the koala, kangaroo and kingfisher, along with branches of the acacia tree, which is also depicted on Australia's national emblem. While the kangaroo jumps over the branches, the koala and the kingfisher rest on the branches with their leaves and fruits. A ribbon with the mint name "THE PERTH MINT" along with the years "1899 - 2024" completes the motif on the underside. On the left side is the mint mark with the anniversary date "P125", and near the upper rim the year of issue "2024" and the weight and purity of the metal. The trunk of the bush bears the initials of the author "JM".
The Perth Mint was established on 20 June 1899 as a subsidiary of the British Royal Mint during the gold rush in Western Australia. It operated under the control of the United Kingdom government for 69 long years, during which time the Mint managed to strike a test slab of gold in the purest purity of 999.999% in 1957. Since 1970, the Mint has been under the Western Australian Government and is authorised to mint and sell Australian gold, silver and platinum coins to investors and collectors. In 1987, the Mint launched the Australian Nugget series of gold coins featuring the iconic kangaroo motif, which are still minted today under the current name Australian Kangaroo.
As of November 2019, The Perth Mint refines approximately 79% of the gold production in the Australian market. It mints highly collectible products globally, primarily due to its high quality and precision craftsmanship. Some of the most famous investment coins produced by the Mint include the Kangaroo Kangaroo, Kookaburra Iceberg and Koala.
The obverse side features a portrait of King Charles III with the initials of the author "DT". The description of the coin states the inscriptions "CHARLES III", "AUSTRALIA" and the face value "100 DOLLARS".
The coin has the status of Australian legal tender and comes in a protective plastic capsule. The mintage is limited to 25,000 worldwide!
