During the reign of Emperor Rudolph II, who was a great admirer of alchemy and astrology, the famous RABBI JEHOVAH LÖW BEN BÉZALEL also lived in Prague. He first served as the Provincial Rabbi and School Rector in Mikulov, then moved to Prague for 11 years, later to Poznan and finally returned to Prague, where he became Chief Rabbi and held this office until his death on 22.08.1609.

Rabbi Yehuda Löw is also most often associated with the legend of the golem. There are several reasons why Yehuda ben Bezalel brought the clay helper into the world. According to the simplest, he simply created a domestic servant to work for him six days a week.

Not on the Sabbath, when the Rebbe would remove from his mouth the famous Shem ha-m'Foroush, the note with the magic words that gave the Golem life. Until one day he forgot about it, a history familiar and identical to the story of the Chelm Golem. Also with many other stories, tales and legends of domestic helpers who got out of control or whose employer broke the rules.
