This exclusive High Relief gold coin, issued by the Perth Mint in 2018 in premium proof quality of the purest 99.99% gold, weighing 1 Oz (31.107 g), is dedicated to the Wedge-tailed Eagle.
The coin depicts a family of wedge-tailed eagles on its reverse. The eagle chick is watched carefully by its mother and the father of the family swoops down to join them back at the nest. The motif is surrounded by the inscription "AUSTRALIAN WEDGE-TAILED EAGLE" and the issue, weight and purity details "2018 1oz 9999 GOLD" and the Perth Mint's initial "P". The majestic wedge-tailed eagle, found predominantly in Australia, is one of the largest eagle species with a wingspan of up to 2.5m and is easily identified by the distinctive appearance of its wedge-shaped tail feathers. The obverse features a traditional portrait of Britain's Queen Elizabeth II by Ian-Rank Broadley with the initials 'IRB' and the inscriptions 'ELIZABETH II', 'AUSTRALIA' and the denomination '100 DOLLARS'.
The coin comes in a deluxe wooden box along with a numbered certificate of authenticity in a limited edition of only 500 pieces for the entire world!
