Pre-Columbian Collection - 1998 Standard - Teotihuacán
This rare Serpent gold coin, issued by the Bank of Mexico in 1998 in the finest 24 karat gold, weighing 1/2 oz, is dedicated to pre-Columbian civilizations, this time Teotihuacán.
This unique gold coin is rarely seen on the market and is therefore highly sought after by collectors and investors alike!
The front of the coin shows a detail from the temple of Quetzalcoatl, a feathered serpent. Quetzalcoatl was one of the most powerful gods of the Teotihuacan civilization. Unlike many Aztec gods, he was considered good. Below the design is the inscription in Spanish "Serpiente Emplumada" (Feathered Serpent), followed by the denomination, year of issue and the Mexican Mint mark "Mo".
The reverse of the coin features the emblem of Mexico, which depicts an eagle hunting a snake. The inscription above the emblem reads 'Estados Unidos Mexicanos' (United States of Mexico). This is followed by the weight and fineness.
The coin is available in a very limited edition of only 500 pieces for the whole world!
