Detailed description

The Taj Mahal - 100 g

A unique gold coin issued by the State of Solomon Islands in 2019 in 99.9% gold purity and weighing 100 g in top quality reverse proof is dedicated to India's most famous monument - the Taj Mahal.

The reverse of the coin depicts the meticulously crafted main dome of the Taj Mahal mausoleum. The motif is created in four layers of embossing at different depths using an innovative coinage technique that creates a perfect three-dimensional effect. The motif is complemented by the inscription "Taj Mahal" and the year of issue "2019".
The Taj Mahal (Crown Palace), standing in Agra, North India, is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful structures in the world, visited by up to 8 million people every year. It has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1983 and in 2007 was voted as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World in a global vote.
It was built by the Indian Mogul Shah Jahan as the final resting place of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal. 20,000 workers spent 22 years building the Taj Mahal, completing the monumental complex of buildings and gardens in 1654 as a symbol of eternal love and beauty. The chief architect was Ustad Ahmad Lahaur of Persia, but architects from France, Venice, Turkey and Samarkand were also invited. The central structure of the mausoleum, made of white marble, stands on a square pedestal flanked by tall minarets at the corners. The exterior and interior are richly decorated with reliefs, floral and abstract motifs, inlaid precious stones and calligraphic writing in black marble. Atop the perfectly symmetrical building is a large dome with an internal height of 24.74 m and a diameter of 17.72 m.

The obverse depicts a traditional portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Ian-Rank Broadley, surrounded by the inscriptions 'ELIZABETH II', 'SOLOMON ISLANDS', the artist's initials 'IRB', a weight of '100g' and a face value of '50 DOLLARS'.

The coin comes in its original gift box along with a numbered certificate of authenticity in an extremely limited mintage of only 49 pieces for the entire world!
