Detailed description
St. George´s Chapel Gold reverse Proof
This unique gold coin, issued by the Solomon Islands in 2022 in 99.9% gold, weighing 100 g in top quality reverse Proof, is dedicated to the important place of the British Royal Family, St. George's Chapel.
The reverse of the coin depicts the meticulously crafted Gothic-style dome of St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle. The fan-shaped arches, bearing the coats of arms of the various families, converge at their centres to form the national emblem of the United Kingdom. The motif is created in four layers of embossing at different depths using an innovative coinage technique that creates a perfect three-dimensional effect. The motif is complemented by the inscription "St. George's Chapel" and the year of issue "2022".
St. George's Chapel is one of the most important parts of the Windsor Castle complex, a long-standing property of the British monarchy. Built in the late medieval Perpendicular Gothic style, the chapel carries a history of nearly a thousand years of rule. Located at the bottom of the imposing Windsor Castle, it has been the site of many religious and ceremonial events for the royal family since its completion in 1528. A total of seventy-six stone animals, known as the Windsor Royal Animals, adorn its roof. They hold weathervanes and coats of arms and depict a total of 14 different heraldic animals associated with the Plantagenet and Tudor families. The main entrance to the chapel is the west steps, which are adorned with one of the largest windows in Britain above the entrance, consisting of a total of seventy-five figures of popes, kings, princes and saints. The nave is separated from the main altar by a balcony, formed by Gothic-style pillars. The supporting arches on the sides of the church extend into fan-shaped arches on the ceiling, decorated with symbols and coats of arms of England. In the very centre of the ceiling of the church, an angel with a royal crown on his head is in floral ornamentation as a symbol of the supreme leader of the Church of England.
The obverse depicts a traditional portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Ian-Rank Broadley, surrounded by the inscriptions ''ELIZABETH II'', ''SOLOMON ISLANDS'', the denomination ''50 DOLLARS'' and the weight and purity of the metal.
The coin comes in its original gift box along with a numbered certificate of authenticity, in an extremely limited edition of only 25 pieces for the entire world!
