Four cameos of Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain - 50th Anniversary of the Coronation
This rare gold coin was issued by the Royal Canadian Mint in 2004 in top proof quality in the finest 14 karat gold to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. At the same time, the Royal Canadian Mint introduced to the world in 2003 a new portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Canadian artist Susanna Blunt, which has been the main motif on the obverse of Canadian coins ever since.
The reverse of the coin features four portraits (cameos) of Queen Elizabeth II by the following artists: Susanna Blunt (since 2003), Dora de Pédery-Hunt (since 1990), Arnold Machin RA (since 1964) and Mary Gillick (since 1953). Each portrait is surrounded by guilloche designs and the coin features the royal initials in the centre with Queen Elizabeth II's crown underlining the inscription "CANADA". The obverse depicts the national emblem of Canada's denomination and the year of issue "2004".
The coin comes in a deluxe black box along with a numbered certificate of authenticity in a limited edition of only 1000 pieces. The actual mintage of this coin is only 999 pieces for the entire world!
