Kiwi Treasures Series - Tane Mahuta - 2013
The second gold coin issued by the Bank of New Zealand in 2013 in the Kiwi Treasures series and minted by the German mint BH Mayer's Kunstprageanstalt in top proof quality, weighing 1/4 troy ounce (7.78g) in purity of the purest 99.99% gold, this coin is dedicated to the flora and fauna that symbolises New Zealand.
The reverse of the coin depicts an almost 3D relief - symbols of New Zealand: the Kiwi bird and the gigantic kauri tree Tane Mahuta (Lord of the Forest). Below the motif is the face value. The obverse shows a traditional portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley. This is followed by the inscriptions "NEW ZEALAND", "ELIZABETH II", the year of issue and the initials of the artist.
The coin comes in a gift case along with a numbered certificate of authenticity in a limited edition of only 950 pieces for the entire world!
