Phosphorescent Kiwi bird on gold coin
An exclusive gold coin issued by the Bank of New Zealand in 2015 and minted by the Royal Dutch Mint in top proof quality, weighing 1/4 troy ounce (7.78g) in purity of the purest 99.99% gold, is dedicated to one of the symbols of New Zealand - the Brown Kiwi (Apteryx mantelli).
The reverse of the coin depicts the kiwi bird motif, which glows bright green in the dark. The motif is complemented by the face value and another of New Zealand's symbols - the silver fern (Cyathea dealbata). The rim is decorated with the inscriptions BROWN KIWI", APTERYX MANTELLI". The obverse shows a traditional portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley surrounded by the inscriptions 'NEW ZEALAND', 'ELIZABETH II', the year of issue and the initials of the artist 'IRB'.
