Detailed description
Gold $10 Indian Head 1914
The American Eagle Indian Head was minted by the US Mint (No mint mark - Philadelphia, S - San Francisco, D - Denver) from 22 carat gold between 1907 and 1933, weighing 16.7 grams and containing less than half a troy ounce of 0.4837 (15.044 g) fine gold, the rest being traditionally copper. These gold coins are very rarely obtained and are therefore highly sought after by collectors and investors!
The obverse depicts a realistic design of an Indian head wearing a war headdress with feathers and the motto LIBERTY written on the headdress. 13 stars are placed above the head and the year of issue is placed below the head. The reverse side shows an eagle in a calm pose, standing on an arrow and holding an olive branch, symbolizing preparedness and peace. The motif is complemented by inscriptions ('UNITED STATES OF AMERICA', 'E PLURIBUS UNUM', 'IN GOD WE TRUST' and the face value).
