Henry VIII. Tudor - Accession to the Throne - 500th Anniversary
An exclusive gold coin minted by The Royal Mint in 2009, weighing 39.94 g of the finest 22 carat gold and in top proof quality to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the coronation of Henry VIII.
The reverse of the coin depicts Henry VIII standing in front of a typical wall antique of roses, framed by a flower that was often included in portraits of medieval coins. The king is flanked by two letters "H", "R" (Henricus Rex). The initials of the artist "JB" are placed at the bottom right. The motif is surrounded by the inscriptions "THE ACCESSION OF HENRY VIII 1509" and the denomination "FIVE POUNDS". The obverse shows a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain looking to the right by Ian Rank-Brodley. The portrait is surrounded by the inscriptions 'ELIZABETH'II'D'G', 'REG'FID'DEF' and the year of issue. Below the portrait are the initials of the artist 'IRB'. The edge of the coin is smooth with the frieze "ROSA SINE SPINA" (rose without thorns).
The coin comes in a luxurious brown wooden box along with a numbered certificate of authenticity in a limited edition of only 1509 pieces for the whole world!
