Gold Commemorative Coin

RAZITKO_POSTOVNE_ZDARMA_NENI

Poetry of the First World War

An exclusive gold coin issued by the British Royal Mint in 2016 and struck in a premium proof grade weighing five ounces of the purest 99.99% gold, it commemorates the 100th anniversary of the First World War, which took place between 1914 and 1918.

The coin's reverse reflects the significance of the poetry inspired by World War I. Versatile artist David Lawrence has combined the image of soldiers marching through the trenches against a backdrop of thick clouds of dust, along with a quote from the poem "The Soldier" by author Rupert Brooke - "There shall be In that rich erth a richer dust concealed", and the inscription "1914 THE FIRST WORLD WAR 1918". The obverse shows a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by artist Jody Clark, followed by the inscriptions 'ELIZABETH II. D.G.REG.F.D.", the denomination, the year of issue and the artist's initials "JC."

The coin comes in a deluxe wooden box along with a numbered certificate of authenticity in an extremely limited edition of only 30 pieces for the entire world!

World War I
prvni_svetova_valka World War I (known as the Great War or World War before 1939) was a global military conflict fought from 1914 to 1918. World War I affected Europe, Africa and Asia and was fought in the world's oceans. The war began with the successful assassination of the Archduke and heir to the throne, Franz Ferdinand d'Este, in Sarajevo. A month after the assassination, on 28 July, Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia in retaliation. Russia responded the following day by announcing the partial mobilisation of thirteen army corps along the Austrian border. This set off a chain reaction leading to a world war, and within a month most of Europe was at war.

War broke out between two coalitions: the Allied Powers and the Central Powers. The powers of the Covenant at the outbreak of war were the United Kingdom, which became involved in the war as a result of the German invasion of Belgium, France and Tsarist Russia. Other states joined the Agreement, Italy in 1915 and the USA in 1917. The central powers in 1914 were Germany and Austria-Hungary. The Central Powers were also joined by the Ottoman Empire and Bulgaria in 1915. At the end of the war, only Spain, Switzerland, the Netherlands and the Scandinavian states remained neutral in Europe.

The fighting of World War I took place on several fronts across Europe. On the Western Front, fighting took place in the trenches (trench warfare). Between 1914 and 1918, over 60 million soldiers were mobilised.

The end of the World War is given and celebrated around the world as November 11, 1918, when an armistice reigned on all fronts from 11 a.m. (11.11 a.m.), signed at 5.05 a.m. the same day by the German general, in the staff car of the commander-in-chief of the armistice troops, Marshal Foche of France, at Compiegne. The formal end of the war was the Paris Suburban Treaties in 1919.
