Detailed description
3D Pyramid of Giza - Pyramid of Giza
The exclusive 3D gold coin issued by the State of Samoa for 2023 in ultra-high relief weighing 5 Oz (155.5 g) in purity of the purest 99.9% gold with Antique Standard finish features a stylized representation of the tomb of Pharaoh Rachef as the iconic Pyramid of Giza.
Four relief portraits associated with the origins and religious significance of the tomb stand out from the walls of the pyramid. The likeness of Rachef is based on a diorite statue found in the Pharaoh's temple near the Great Sphinx at Giza. The funerary statue served as a replacement dwelling for the "Ka" (life force of the deceased) in case the mummy was damaged.
According to some Egyptologists, the Great Sphinx of Giza was created during the reign of Rachepho, who allegedly had the likeness of his father, Pharaoh Cheops (Khufu), captured in its face. The therianthropic depiction of the supreme sun god Re with the head of a falcon was considered the creator and father of the pharaohs. Kings aspired to spend the afterlife in his company on a sun barque travelling in the heavens. The jackal-headed Anup was worshipped as a god and protector of the dead, tombs and mummification, which allowed the soul to enter the afterlife.
The surface of the pyramid is a structure of stacked stone blocks. A simple design and ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics are incorporated into the border at the bottom of the pyramid.
The Pyramid of Rachef in Giza was built as a royal tomb for the fifth pharaoh of the 4th dynasty, Rachef, who ruled Egypt from 2472 to 2448 BC. Together with the pyramids of his father (the Pyramid of Cheops) and his son (the Pyramid of Menkaure), it is one of the three main landmarks of the Giza necropolis. With a base of 215.25 metres and a height of 136.4 metres, the Pyramid of Rachef is the second largest pyramid in Egypt. The royal tomb also includes a complex of buildings and the Sphinx, which is the largest sculpture carved from a single piece of rock in the world. The dating of the Sphinx is disputed, often associated with Rachef or his father, but there are growing opinions that it may be older by several thousand years.
The base of the pyramid is decorated with a background made up of hieroglyphs with the year of issue "2023". In the center is the national emblem with the inscription "SAMOA", the denomination "$100 Tala" and the weight and purity data.
The coin comes in its original pyramid-shaped box along with a certificate of authenticity in a limited mintage of only 39 pieces for the entire world!
