5 Oz - The Mythical World of the Haida - Orca
This exclusive gold partially enamelled coin issued by the Royal Canadian Mint in 2016 is precision struck in a top quality proof weighing 5 Oz (157.6 g) in the purest 99.99% gold purity. This coin is the first of three coins released in the Mythical Realms of the Haida series and is dedicated to one of the world's largest mammals, the killer whale.
The reverse of the coin features a motif in the style of the Haida art of Canada's indigenous peoples, depicting a laughing Orca (killer whale) created in black and red enamel. A female body is embedded in the body of the killer whale (the shoulder is positioned directly under the eye of Orca, black hair flowing along her back and ribs). The motif is further enhanced by the silhouette of the full moon created by a simple circular outline on the background. This is followed by the inscriptions "CANADA", the year of issue, the artist's initials "AW" and the denomination "500 DOLLARS". The obverse features a traditional portrait of Britain's Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt with the inscriptions "ELIZABETH II" and "D.G. REGINA".
The coin comes in a luxury wooden box along with a numbered certificate of authenticity in an extremely limited edition of only 50 pieces for the whole world!
