Issued by the Royal Canadian Mint in 2010, this exclusive 5 Oz (156.05 g) gold coin, precision struck in top quality proof in the finest 99.99% pure gold, is dedicated to the opening of the 21st Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver 2010.
The reverse of the coin depicts several interlocking motifs from everyday life in the city and countryside of British Columbia, creating an overall impression of diversity and balance. The inner motifs depict bubbles, salmon, ferns, the Gastown Historic District wall, technology, rain, latticework, sea foam, fir trees, clouds and ice, while the outer motifs depict trees, Indian canoes and geese that gradually transform into a flying kite. The obverse features the Olympic Games logo and a traditional portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Susanne Blunt with the inscriptions "ELIZABETH II", "CANADA", the denomination "500 DOLLARS" and the year of issue.
The coin comes in a deluxe black box along with a numbered certificate of authenticity in a very limited edition of only 210 pieces for the entire world!
