Restoration of the English Monarchy - 350th Anniversary
An exclusive gold coin minted by The Royal Mint in 2010, weighing 39.94g of the finest 22ct gold and in top proof quality to mark the 350th anniversary of the Stuart Restoration, which began in 1660 when the monarchy was restored after a period of interregnum following the Civil War. Charles II was appointed King.
The reverse of the coin shows a simplified version of St. Edward's crown, complete with oak leaves, English roses and thistles tied with a ribbon. The motif in the centre is completed by the year '1660' and the double 'C' represents the coinage of Charles II. All surrounded by the inscriptions "RESTORATION OF THE MONARCHY" and the face value "FIVE POUNDS". The obverse shows a portrait of Britain's Queen Elizabeth II looking to the right by Ian Rank-Brodley. The portrait is surrounded by the inscriptions "ELIZABETH'II'D'G", "REG'FID'DEF" and the year of issue. Below the portrait are the initials of the artist 'IRB'. The edge of the coin is smooth with the frieze "A QUIET AND PEACEABLE POSSESSION".
The coin comes in a luxurious brown wooden box along with a numbered certificate of authenticity in a limited edition of only 1200 pieces for the whole world!
