The obverse of the coin features a composition of heraldic animals from the large state emblem of the Czech Republic in the centre. In the centre is a large Czech lion in contemporary depiction, on the right the Moravian and on the left the Silesian eagle in contemporary form, depicted in negative relief and placed on square shields. Below the heraldic animals, the name of the state 'CZECH REPUBLIC' appears in two lines. The heraldic animals and the name of the state extend from the centre of the coin to the intermediate ring separated by a pearl. On the intercircle there is an unsealed copy with the title of the cycle "CULTURAL MONUMENTS OF TECHNICAL HERITAGE". At the bottom edge of the coin, the denomination of the coin with the abbreviation of the monetary unit '2500 CZK' is marked on the intercircular line. The mint mark of the mint that minted the coin is placed in the centre of the coin under the Moravian eagle.

On the reverse side of the coin there is a sculptural transcription of a contemporary engraving of a Renaissance hand paper mill in the centre of the coin. On the top left is a depiction of the Velké Losiny paper mill building, and on the bottom right is a sculptural transcription of the translucent Žerotín lion used on handmade paper from this paper mill. All depictions extend from the centre of the coin to the intercircle separated by a pearl. On the intercircle there is an unsealed inscription 'PAPÍRNA VE VELKÝCH LOSINÁCH' at the left, upper and right edges of the coin, with the year of minting '2006' also in the inscription at the lower edge of the coin, bordered on both sides by a small floral decoration. The author of the coin's design is Luboš Charvát, whose initials, the stylized interconnected letters "LCH", are placed at the lower left edge of the coin to the left of the floral decoration.

The paper manufactory was built on the site of the former grain mill by Jan the Younger of Žerotín.

According to the sources, the paper mill started production as one of the enterprises of the developing upper-class economy sometime between 1591 and 1596. For the first time, the existence of the paper mill is commemorated by its oldest known broadside from 1596 in the form of the Žerotín coat of arms - a lion with a crown standing on three hills. From its inception until the second half of the 18th century, the enterprise was linked to the fate of the Velkolosin dominion and its Žerotín holders.

Since the mid-1970s, the entire site has undergone several stages of costly renovations and repairs, which continue to the present day. In 2002, the unique complex of this important technical monument, which is unparalleled in Central Europe, especially in terms of the more than four hundred years of continuity of traditional handmade paper production, was declared a national cultural monument by the Government of the Czech Republic.
