The Marianne gold coins issued in France were first introduced in 1899 and last minted in 1914. These gold twenty-franc coins are very rarely obtained and are therefore highly sought after by collectors.
The obverse of the coin features a portrait of Marianne, the symbol of the French Republic. From left to right, the portrait is surrounded by the inscription "REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE".
The reverse side of the coin depicts the Gallic rooster, the unofficial national symbol of France. The rooster is surrounded by the traditional slogan of the French Revolution "LIBERTE EGALITE FRATERNITE" (Liberty, Equality, Fraternity). The denomination "20 Fcs" and the year of issue are placed at the bottom.
