Sapphire Tiara
Issued by the Royal Canadian Mint in 2019, this exclusive gold coin with sapphires and diamonds in top-quality proof of the purest 99.99% gold and weighing 60.8 grams is a sapphire tiara of Elizabeth II and one of the few personal pieces of jewellery that the Queen did not inherit, but had created.
The unique coin bears on its reverse a reconstruction of the main landmark of the sapphire tiara. The jewel consists of four genuine sapphires surrounded by 28 small diamonds (5x 0.054 Ct, 15x 0.035 Ct, 8x 0.025 Ct). The rim of the coin is decorated with a subtle pattern based on the setting of the side stones of the diadem, connecting the inscription "CANADA" at the top of the coin and the denomination "250 DOLLARS" at the bottom edge.
On the occasion of her marriage in 1947, Elizabeth II received a Victorian jewellery set from her father, King George VI, consisting of a necklace and earrings made of blue sapphires and diamonds. To complement this set, she commissioned a tiara and bracelet in 1963 in the appropriate style and quality of gemstones. The new sapphire tiara was created from a necklace originally belonging to Princess Louise of Belgium.
The obverse features a traditional portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt with the inscriptions "ELIZABETH II", "D.G.REGINA" and the year of issue.
The coin comes in a deluxe box along with a numbered certificate of authenticity in a limited edition of only 175 pieces for the entire world!
